TOKYO (January 8, 2008) - The GT500 specification Nissan GT-R racing car, which will vie for the 2008 SUPER GT series, will make its public debut at the upcoming “Tokyo Auto Salon with NAPAC” (January 11-13, 2008 at Makuhari Messe), followed by the “Osaka Auto Messe 2008″ (February 9-11, 2008 at Intecks Osaka), the country’s two largest annual custom car shows.

The new works livery - which will be featured across Nissan motorsports activities during the 2008 season - will be unveiled on the race car. Nissan will vie for the SUPER GT Championship, one of the world’s most demanding GT race series, with the new machine built on the same multi-performance super car concept of the Nissan GT-R road car.

The new livery resulted from close collaboration between Nissan’s design team and NISMO, its motorsports affiliate company, and incorporates feedback from members of the “Club NISMO” fan club.

The signature wide “brush stroke” design motif, synonymous with the current Fairlady Z race car, was carried forward into the new GT-R racing car as Nissan’s racing fans worldwide could immediately associate with the design. The livery design swipes forward from the rear in bold red and black - the red symbolizes the passion for racing, while the black signifies the high performance of the new Nissan GT-R.

Further details of the GT500 Nissan GT-R including technical specifications will be announced on January 31st, as well as Nissan’s full range of global motorsports activities for the coming season.

Nissan GT-R Now on Pre-Order (US)
08.02.08 16:35

Nissan GTR

( Worldcarfans ) - Last Wednesday pre-ordering started in the US for the much anticipated new Nissan GT-R sports car at almost 700 Nissan dealers across the country. The base GT-R will sell for just under USD 70,000 excluding destination and handling costs while the GT-R Premium model costs just under USD 72,000. First deliveries are expected to be made by June 2008.

The 480 hp sports car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8 liter V6 engine and is coupled to a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Nissan has a list of GT-R Certified Nissan dealers on their website, these dealership are the only ones selling and maintaining the GT-R. Each one has a master technician, while service managers and technicians have received special training.

“A supercar as special as the new Nissan GT-R – and its owners – requires a truly exceptional level of care and handling,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. “These Certified GT-R dealers are making a substantial investment in their showrooms, service tools and technician training – helping ensure that the purchase and ownership of the new GT-R will be an exciting experience for our customers, every step of the way.”

Nissan 370Z Coming to LA Auto Show (Nissan News)
By nscc - Published: February 10, 2008

Just in case you think the current 3.5L Z-car is a bit down on power, Nissan is said to be slotting the 3.7L V6 from the Infiniti G37 into the next generation replacement for the 350Z. Word is the forthcoming 370Z will now be coming to the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Sources also say that the new Z will be about 4 inches shorter in wheelbase than the current car. At least now we know what all the spy shots were. It's said that the car going to L.A. will be a full-on production model and not a teaser concept. Styling is said to be 'evolutionary' so it will be interesting to see if the Nismo 350Z pictured above was any indication of the styling direction. Big brother GT-R better watch it's back.

By banzai - Published: December 23, 2007

Yes, it is that time of year again when the thoughts of most members turn to renewing their club membership.

Events like the Wakefield Track Day and our skidpan/motorkhanas cost money. Your membership goes towards such events. Next year we are planning two track days as well as the usual motorkhanas.

Within the next few days you should receive your renewal notice and form. Please attend to them ASAP.

You should also receive notice of the next Annual General Meeting which will be on Saturday 2nd February 10:00am. We would love to see you there. We would especially like to see some more members come forward to join the executive committee.

A big thank-you to all of the members of the current committee, especially Patrick for all of his hard work.

More details in this thread.
