Nissan won it's first race back in 1936 with a single seater in Japan (see attached pic). Since then the company has tasted success in everything from touring cars to rallying to open wheelers to prototype sports sedans. They haven't lost their winning edge either, dominating the JGTC season in 2003 with the drivers championship in both GT500 (Motoyama/Krumm) and GT300 (Kinoshita, Yanagida) along with the team title in GT500 (Nismo) and a second place in GT300 (Hesemi Motorsport Z).
Their close association with racing in Australia began in 1958 for the Mobilgas Round Australia Trial. In a surprise to many their debut at one of the worlds toughest events resulted in a class victory. They continued their close ties with motorsport with the Fairlady's in the 60's (which utterly dominated sportscar racing in Japan and America), the Z's in the 70s and 80's, the mighty Fury Bluebird and Gibson skylines in the '80's culminating in the all conquering R32 GTR's in the 90's.
It comes as no surprise therefore that the Nissan Sports Car Club also has a close association with motorsport. From it's close relationship with teams running Nissans at national level events to the participation of it's members at a wide range of club events the club is dedicated to delights of the sport.
To assist those interested in motorsports, in particular those relating to Nissans, the NSCC has created this motorsport section to entertain and inform members and non members alike. If you want to know what the Nissans are up to at all levels of motorsport from motorkhanas to international events like the Bathurst 24 hour then this is the place to be.
